Benoît Labourdette’s project, “Sur la plage de mon imaginaire” (“On the beach of my imagination”), involves projecting very large-format, slow-motion videos onto the floor of a waiting room. The chosen space is a waiting room at the crossroads of outpatient consultations (surgery, orthopedics, dental, digestive, dermatology, pneumology, etc.), which is open to the general public. For the hospital, the aim is to “demystify a place of healthcare and bring calm and serenity to it” (J. Loudière, Culture Santé referent).
The project proposes almost abstract images, with a subtle, very very slow projection, and visitors who linger may see a painting on the floor before noticing the movement. In this way, the work is suggested but not imposed on patients.
